This sweet girl wandered up to Bur Oaks off of 9 mile on Sunday.

She may be older; possibly loosing her eyesight.  She is beng cared for right now and will most likely being going to the vets this week to be checked out.

If you know this dog or her owners please call us so we can get her home or rehomed if best.

Adopted Dogs - JJ and Buddy Adopted Dogs - JJ and Buddy : I wanted to take the time to let you know about our dogs we have adopted from the shelter. A little over a year ago my husband let me adopt our first dog, JJ. He has been a great part of our family and a ball of energy. He has brought many smiles to everyone. When my husband returned from his 2nd tour in Iraq, we decided that we needed to get a playmate for JJ. So since we had such a great outcome with the first dog we went back to the shelter and my husband and I fell in love with the 3 month, little white lab puppy named Buddy. We brought him home and the 2 dogs have been inseparable from day one. The only thing that concerned us with Buddy was he slept a lot and never really seemed to respond when we called his name. The vacuum, which JJ HATES and runs away from, Buddy wasn’t even phased by it. When people would knock at the door, JJ would have a fit and bark as usual, but Buddy would remain asleep. After doing various tests the vet told us to do we came to the conclusion that Buddy was deaf. When we told friends and family they seemed to think we should take him back to the shelter. I thought they had all lost their minds. I have brought this dog into our home, given him a safe loving place to live, nothing is going to take him away from me. My dogs are my furbabies and no matter what, I will make it work. Thousands of dogs are killed every year just because they are deaf. Many others are abused horribly because the owners think they are dangerous, dumb, or can’t be trained.  There are so many misconceptions about deaf dogs. They are just like any other dog. They need love, companionship, and patients. Just getting rid of the pet does not help.

I looked up information about how to train deaf dogs and so far Buddy has taken to everything very well. The only difference is I have to use hand signal, a lot of physical touch so he knows what I want him to do, and a great deal of patients. Buddy is a blessing to have in our home. He is the sweetest dog and loves to sleep right in the middle of the bed every night. Being deaf, he always is right behind me, he doesn’t like me to get out of eye sight. We have a large backyard and we have come up with a system to use flashlights at night to get Buddy’s attention to come back inside. We believe our other dog knows Buddy is deaf and watches Buddy closely and makes sure he isn’t left behind. The extra work is well worth having such an amazing dog. If his special need doesn’t stop him from being a sweet spunky puppy, why should it stop me from being a great pet parent?

Adopted Dog - ACE Adopted Dog - ACE : Hello there!
My name is Ace. My mom & dad adopted me in January when I was only 6 weeks old. I am now 5 months old and am a great puppy! I was really sick when I was little but my mom and dad took extra good care of me and now I am the most hyper, fun-loving dog they could have asked for. I absolutely love going to the beach but I\'m not big on the water. I run 2 miles every day with my mom and I even go on play dates 3 times a week with other puppies my age. My parents have taught me 10 different tricks and I even bark when someone knocks on the door to warn my parents that someone is out there. I get fed an egg with my food every morning to keep my fur shiny and my digestive system healthy because I was so sick when I was younger. I have to say life is pretty good.

When we adopted Ace, we had no idea how big he would be, what kind of dog he was, or if he would even survive because he had gotten very sick due to worms when he was little. But now, I am so grateful that we chose to adopt Ace. He is a great dog. He has the hyperness of a beagle, the loyalty of the hound dog, and the protectiveness of a sheppard (which is the mix the vet says he is). He loves going on walks. He is a very vocal dog, and we enjoy the fact he lets us know he is there. Anytime we leave, he lays down in the spare room and when we come home he has 100\'s of kisses for us. He is the most affectionate dog I\'ve ever met. He is truly a blessing. The only thing I regret about adopting is not getting 2. Ace is always right there beside us no matter where we are or what we are doing. I hope more people choose to go to the shelter and adopt because the greatest gift we can give these animals is a chance. Nothing is their fault, it\'s humans and they deserve a chance. We actually named Ace after a dog that was at the shelter in January that we were unable to adopt because of the breed restrictions at our complex. His name was Ace and he is 3. I hope his story has a happy ending just like our Ace. I cannot wait to come and get Ace a brother or sister!!!!

Reecie Reecie :
We had lost our dog Scout Feb. 24, 2009 and were devastated. Our daughter had gotten Scout from the pound at age 6 weeks and we had him for 15 years. Everybody kept saying \'Get another dog\' but we just couldn\'t. Not quite a month ago we were at my mother\'s and she has a Chow that usually pays me no attention but on that day she just wouldn\'t leave me alone, wanting to be petted and putting her head in my lap. When I got home I was miserable and went online to your site looking at the dogs in my area and found Reecie... We went the next day to see her (I was so afraid that someone else would adopt her before we could get there) and when they brought her out it was love at first sight. She is the sweetest thing, so loving and well behaved and we are so grateful to have her. My husband told Reecie the other night if he hadn\'t looked at her picture online he would\'ve said no about getting another dog but she was so pretty he couldn\'t resist. Keep up the good work. Isn\'t she beautiful?
